I’m a fan of glass filters, they are incomparably better in care than those made of resin.
Those who take pictures of the sea coasts during storms know exactly what I’m talking about 😉
I have recently received two filters from KASE FILTERS GND8 (0,9) and R-GND8 (0,9)
I was very curious about the quality of this new brand and at the same time I was afraid
that it could be another cheap product from China with one exception… that it is not cheap.
Of course the price in comparison with the big players looks pretty good, they are still cheaper than
LEE, HITECH, NiSi etc. But are they worth the price? Are they really as good as the producer described?
The first thing is a nice impression after unpacking. Each filter is packed separately into a delicate
paper and a nice leather case the whole is protected by a solid cardboard package.
The filter itself gives the impression of very good quality, the corners are nicely rounded, edges are smooth. The manufacturer describes himself as incredibly resistant to impact scratches, light reflections and without color shifts. They call them Wolverine Series.
After the first test, my assessment is that
First filter GND8 (0,9)
the filter does not affect image quality, no observed decrease of sharpness, that’s good 😉
No color shifts, correct colors and white balance, that’s also good 😉
In fact, it cuts off the light by two steps not by three !??? that’s very bad 🙁
It means that someone stole 33% of my filter 😮
Second filter R-GND8 (0,9)
The filter does not affect image quality, no observed decrease of sharpness, that’s good 😉
Very unusual color shifts, not very strong but almost impossible to improve during processing, part of the picture seems to be oversaturated, it’s not good 🙁
I was interested in several more filters from this manufacturer but already I healed from that.
So once again I have a lesson “do not buy anything from Chinese if you do not know product well”
